All of CUPS decaffeinated coffees use the Swiss Water Process® of decaffeination.  Only purified water and activated carbon are used in the process

Many commercially decaffeinated coffees use a process based on toxic organic solvents such as Methylene Chloride and Ethyl Acetate which can leave as much as 10 parts per million residue on the beans. 

While the SWP® costs more, CUPS believes it is worth it for our discriminating customers.
